Can Pollak lead lady Hawks to the top?

Council Rock South is getting set for the girls tennis season, warming up for tomorrow’s big match against sister school CR North with today’s non-league match against CB East.
After finishing third in the Suburban One League (SOL) National Conference last year behind runner-up Pennsbury and league champion lady Indians, the Golden Hawks are poised to move up in the standings behind the stellar play of junior Julie Pollak (pictured), who is stationed at No. 1 singles.
Two years ago, Pollak won the individual league crown in singles play and finished as runner-up last year behind 2009 Pennsbury graduate Lauren Rossi.
Lost from last year’s team is Faith Barlow at No. 2 singles. Playing in place of the ’09 graduate is senior Ally Dossick, who played third singles last season.
Taking up Dossick’s former post is sophomore Rebecca Langbein. CR South skipper Ray Dugan is expecting big things from Langbein, who won the in-house challenge tournament at the beginning of the preseason. Becca is currently nursing a knee injury and was seen favoring the left leg in pre-game warm-ups, forcing Dugan to consider a forfeit at third singles.
“We need to get her ready for tomorrow against North,” stated Dugan. “That’s a big match for us just because it’s North and because it’s the beginning of league play.”
Back at No. 1 doubles this year are junior Ashley Cove and senior Julia Gomes, who is this season’s team captain.
